My Mission

Music has always been a source of healing and inspiration for me. From homeless to happiness, my lyrics helped me shatter depression and learn to know what love is. My hope is that anyone who is struggling in darkness seeking to know their light might be helped by witnessing what I have gone through. I want my music and content to be about the people I meet, with their challenges and real life solutions, along with the universal principles that will make our world a better place.

2018 Classic Featuring "Jewel"

Jewel is a singer-songwriter, actress, author, mother and advocate. She went from a girl who grew up in Alaska with no running water, to a homeless teenager in San Diego, to an award winning, Multi-Platinum Recording Artist who released one of the best-selling debuts of all times. Through her career, which has spanned over 20 years, she has earned multiple Grammy Award nominations, an American Music Award and an MTV Video Music Award among many others and to date has sold well in excess of 30 million albums worldwide.

Jewel’s versatile music career has spanned seven studio albums ranging in genre from pop, folk and country and has had 23 hit singles. The progression and variety of Jewel’s albums is due largely in part to mentor’s Bob Dylan and Neil Young who impressed upon her with their advice to take risks and make music she is authentically interested in. Jewel’s second album Spirit showcased an entirely different feel than first album, Pieces of You. Rock-leaning, This Way, came next which then transitioned to the Dance-Pop that encompassed 0304. Next, Jewel explored country with beautiful lyrics and melody. She debuted #1 in the country charts with her first country effort. Always a story-teller, combining poetry and melody, Jewel’s body of works speak for themselves.

Reposting the below from my dad @atzkilcher IG account’s a short excerpt from his book. “Son Of A Midnight Land”. GO BUY IT! On Amazon - wherever! It’s an amazing read, - inspirational... it’s Alaska ... nature ... an amazingly unusual pioneer childhood ... it’s about hurt, shame, loss and healing that is nothing short of miraculous. And it has very entertaining stories as well of Alaskan adventures ... I was about 5 when this story from this excerpt took place ... I remember the woman ... she looked ancient to me ... apparently she was a very famous vocal teacher .. who wanted to inform my dad I should not be able to yodel at that age. 😂 Here is to not knowing any better ! Seriously. It’s a magical charm when you don’t know you can’t, and so you just .... do... It’s a magical charm to believe anything is possible if you work hard enough... I still love plugging my ears to naysayers and just feeling inside myself for the edges of my own limits and kindly, gently, lovingly, with curiosity and wonder and tenacity - pushing the edges out ... testing myself every day... expanding every day... #Repost @atzkilcher with @get_repost ・・・ "I have to mention of of my very favorite Jewel yodeling stories ... We were doing our hotel dinner show and Jewel did her usual brilliant yodeling routine. Even though I was always thrilled, it had all become familiar to me by now and I had started taking it for granted. After the show, a well-dressed, sophisticated-looking elderly woman came up to the stage. She had the most serious, dubious, quizzical look on her face." — From my new memoir in stories, "Atz Kilcher: Son of a Midnight Land" #sonofamidnightland #alaskathelastfrontier

“Comparison is the thief of all joy”- When we look at our own reflection, what do we see? Can we see ourselves clearly, or is the image of ourselves distorted because we perceive ourselves through the eyes of others? Teaching myself that I have value that is not relative to any external accomplishment or failure - that my worth is not relative to my job title or lack there of has been a huge area of growth for me. Our value is intrinsic. Our value is how well we live our values. And if we can live our values each day, regardless of how the day is going. Can we be kind when we are suffering a set back? Can we be loyal or honest when we have the opportunity to take advantage? Living our values helps us have a clear picture of who we are and trust we will be able to keep a consistent belief in and view of ourselves so we don’t feel tossed around or at the mercy of life’s ups and downs. As I teach my son to focus on his internal game- that to give his 💯 % effort is the only variable he can control, I know this wisdom came hard earned. We all struggle w perfectionism, and learning to focus on the only variable that is in our control - OURSELVES- is the only path to joy. When we compare ourselves to others, we loose the ability to see ourselves. To put energy into ourselves. To feel the joy of giving our best and the satisfaction that comes when we know we can do better because we alone know we have more to offer - and to do it with out beating ourselves up! Take a moment to remember, you are all you have. Be kind to yourself. Don’t compare yourself to others. Focus on being your best self. And know that you have unique value beyond a job or a title- value that can’t be fired, or stripped away by an injury, or a set back. But one that is built over a life time of investing in your inner game. Character is Currency. The world is crazy right now- but we don’t have to be! So- Share with me a value or trait you admire about yourself, that makes you, you! So we can all see and support and applaud you! #nature #reflection #values #dothework #competition #youdoyou
