Monday
Posted in From Jewel on March 23, 2009
Well, here we are again- Monday, the big day for Ty! He is doing the Fox Trot this week, and it has been a hard week for him. He has had 4 days to get it together, and it is a whole new dance, with all new technique, and so it’s like starting from scratch. Nothing from the Quickstep or Cha Cha apply to this except his arms when he is in "frame." The footwork is lead with the heel, down down, up up, and the character is different like a Gene Kelly movie- all of which Ty, I'm sad to report, grew up hating. Ty has a strict aversion to musicals. To him, real men should not break out in song spontaneously mid-scene in any movie or life. Haha! He didn’t grow up in that generation. In fact he didn’t like Gene Autry, the singing cowboy. He grew up with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, and now to find himself being the dancing cowboy has forced him to reevaluate things! But I'm sure proud of him! He's been working really hard, and I think you will see more improvement from him. Don't forget to vote- you can vote 13 times per person! Did you know that? I just learned that, so you can bet I'm gonna dial up his vote number tonight! In case you don't know his vote number it is 1-800-868-3408. All you do is dial that number, and it says thanks for voting- and that's it. All you gotta do is dial it 12 more times! Haha!
I have relaxed this week- shopped a little too. :) I have been pretty bad about taking care of my leg. I get embarrassed by the extra attention it draws to me, especially if I'm going somewhere by myself, and so I tried to go without it for a day. It felt ok all day, just a little painful- but that night it really started hurting. And at the house I don't use my crutch, I kinda hobble around, which isn't helping, so I have to try and be more strict about using it. The doctor said I can use a cane, so I may try that. It seems a little easier and less bulky, so we will see. I still can't believe I broke my leg and it’s gonna be 6 more weeks at least until I'm all better. I keep thinking it will get better any day now. :) I have been writing a lot- short stories- but I have lost a lot of them over the years. I hate that. I just wrote for the fun of writing, and forget to collect them or keep track of them and they are gone forever. I better start sending them to Alan, so he can help me stay organized with my writing, too, and not just my music. I'm just terrible at it and just not to be trusted with keeping my work.
Anyway, can't wait to see what you guys think of Ty’s dance! Let me know how you like it and I will be in touch. Xxj

It's good to hear your leg's getting better :) Still can't wait for the Lullaby album, gotta wait till May nooo! I'll live haha!
Take care Jewel, Rach xx
I hope you get better soon, and you should put some of your stories up on the site, or start writing a book. Be fun to read, put all your short stories to a book. "Short stories, by Jewel"
hmm i would buy it the first day comes out buy 50 of them and give it to family and friends.
Take care jewel and get well soon.
Much Love,
ELLA
I have to admit that I didn't think much of your husband the first few times I saw him...he was misbehaving along the rodeo trail in the days when I used to rodeo. He has been known to be less than polite to his fellow competitors, and I watched him jump up on another kids chute and rattle it telling him to hurry up, while at a rodeo in Puyallyup...It occured to me that I would be devastated if my hero did that to me. But when I learned that he had connected with you, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, because I suspect you would have high expectations of your man. I have always been a big Jewel fan, just not a bit Ty fan. He must be behaving himself, though, so I will surely vote for him tonight. Best wishes on your family. Congratulations for making him a better man.
Hard work pays off as you know. So I'm sure Ty will do well tonight. Seems like he's less nervous and letting the dancing be his main focus instead of what his friends and the audience will think..... Just to have fun and let loose!
A cane should definitely help while you're out and about. I'll call the 1-800 number tonight and use all my votes on Ty!
Next season, your turn!
Rick
I wish Ty all the luck of the world!
Don´t worry about to have lost the stories, you will make up new ones ;)

I hope you get better soon! A funky cane would be awesome!
I will definitely root for Ty tonight when I watch it on TiVo - can't wait!
I understand the whole John Wayne persona - my boyfriend loves Westerns - especially Gunsmoke. He's actually gotten me into watching them... haha! I love the whole macho, cowboy thing though. You and me - we've got good taste. =)
We just got back from Bandera, TX where we stayed on a dude ranch and rode horses for five days and there was no internet. I couldn't check in and read your blogs Love reading your blogs, it's as if you are talking to us every other day, pretty cool.
I've turned my mom onto loving Ty...and we get so excited/nervous for him! My mom thinks Ty is just the cutest thing ever! She said "I can't wait till he does the salsa!!" hahaha.
Most improved for sure!! Woo hoo!
He did so well there is no way I can believe he'll be in the bottom or worse.
He looks like he is starting to get the hang of all this prancin around the dance floor!
Will be looking forward to seeing him get more and more relaxed!
and YOU Little Missy...you do what the Dr's tell you to do or it will take even longer to heal up!
Ok....get out there and vote people!
And Jewel - how DARE you not have enough courage to dance with a broken leg? Sheesh!
;)
Keep voting for Ty, Jewel & Ty fans!
And Kathy...that was the funniest thing I read on here all night! hahahaha
Over the years I have become a great fan of you too Jewel. What a beautiful person you are. I wish the best to you and Ty. Take care of that leg properly, so you can chase your children around soon! :)
#1 If you don't like Ty's dancing, don't vote for him
#2 If you don't like Jewel's site...Leave
Why are you always antagonizing people?

You show no respect for fellow members here or their opinions. Others respect yours and you should extend the same courtesy.
Now please get back to the topic at hand and stop the relentless need to bicker!
Jewel - if I could vote, I would. It may sound a bit awful but I didn't feel hopeful for Ty to begin with but he has clearly improved and is enjoying himself. I'll check out the ABC link and see if I can vote there.
Oh and listen to your doctor and stay off the foot. You'll be better sooner then.
Take care and best of Luck Ty!

anytime there is a vote..there is a campaign...to WIN .. Jewel simply asked.. if you like TY use your 13 votes for him ...its a reasonable request....
if you don't then by all means WASTE your votes on someone else...:)
as far as the others not having a forum like this to ask for votes bull! go look you will discover most do.. the smart ones anyway..
As for the others not having the same platform to request voting...

The list goes on.
Almost every celebrity on the show has their own official site asking for votes.
"I have been writing a lot-short stories-but I have lost a lot of them over the years."
I know how you feel! ADD people, like myself, lose things all the time too. I have written poems and stories in the past and have lost them, and still do. Oh! The curse of Attention Deficit Disorder and computer crashes! The computer crashes are the worst for me though. I’m notorious for forgetting to save my work before the computer crashes, so my work is gone forever! Never to be found again .
Loosing my stuff as forced me to be more organized! I always bring a big puse, file folder or bag with me to keep everything in now, and it's helped.
Jewel, I think sending Alan what you write is a wonderful idea! I have my aunt to keep track of certain things that I write too.
Take Care Jewel.
Sincerely,
Samantha
P.S. Ty did an Amazing job on Dancing with the stars last week. I voted for him.
