Come Give Daddy a Kiss-

      Well the wind has really come up here.  The temperature has dropped,  and its gusting hard and fast out there though the big Texas sky is blue and clear.   I am looking out these large picture windows, and enjoying the show from inside the warmth of my studio.   
      Oh! By the way; I'm not on STEROIDS! It's not what you are thinking. Man, I had no idea that would cast me as the new A-ROD!! Haha, it's not that type of thing! It's cortisone, an ANTI INFLAMITORY MEDICINE, it's all to bring the swelling down. It doesn't make me stronger, or cause me to grow facial hair or anything! No 'roid rage!'  I wont start telling Ty "Come here and give daddy a kiss!" I won't have superhuman strength and be lifting my dance partner up over my head and spinning him! It's not a performance enhancing or dance enhancing drug; just anti-inflammatory medicine. Geez, I gotta be careful with my words! :)
       Anyway, I'm finishing up the artwork on my lullaby album today, so its good I had a day or two to catch up on that project and put the finishing touches on the packaging. I'm thinking of putting some pictures of myself as a kid inside. I don't think I will have room to put all the lyrics in, so I'm going to select a few lines here and there, and then make sure I post all the complete lyrics on my site.

      Ok, I'm gonna get back to it. Talk to you all soon. I included a pic of the studio window I'm looking out of that looks out at a lovely old oak tree. You can see the wind really throwing the branches around, and a pic of George sitting in a sunny spot. I swear he is part cat....

Ha, I knew what you ment be steriods. Im a really severe asthmatic. When my asthma gets bad when I sick, they put me on "steroids".
Too bad about the lack of space for lyrics. I always by CD's for the lyrics, plus the pretty pictures :P

This blog today gave me a few good chuckles Jewel. Glad u won't be growing massive facial hair... LOL....
The tree looks like from the GBAW music video. Cute pics of George btw. Ya know, my cats Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Idol, Axel Rose & Ty TY love to play fetch. I call them Cat_Dogs... hee ツ hee! How old is George now anyway? Just a random thought.
I think it's a good idea to incorporate little kid photos of u in the album packet. It makes sense for a "Lullaby" album.... Which I am very excited 4! Good to hear ur OK and enjoying being home.

To me, it always sounded like "Into The Light" like an "Illuminated Baby" sort of thing. Destined. At least that's how I wanted to interpret it. Still do.

Hi Jewel,
Have you ever thought about having one of your paintings on the cover of a CD? I love that painting with the woman with outstretched hands on a background of red that you did then sold as a limited edition.
George is so cute and cuddley. On Youtube there is the funniest clip of George barking when you sing opera! I recommend it to all in the jeweljk community!

I love that you call your dog/cat George! I find names that people give animals that are people names is so funny. Your window picture is absolutely gorgeous. I love simple pictures like that. It sort of looks like a desert outside haha. My cat acts like a dog so I think all animals are a combination ;)
Aw no lyrics :( oh well your putting them on the website. I would rather see pictures of your childhood instead.

Pretty dog. My dog doesn't sunbathe so much. She's an Alaskan Malamute and the poor thing hates where we live. My husband got stationed in El Paso and she pants so hard, esp. in the summer, from the heat. It did actually snow here one day during the winter and she wanted to be out in it the entire time it was snowing, of course I froze while being out there with her. LOL

Jewel I hope those "steroids" help your knee. I just wanted to say I am so excited to watch you on DWTS and I get to see you in Washington State at the Snoqualmie Casino in March! I am soooo excited! It's been far too long since I was able to listen to you live...about 5 years now so the tickets to see you in concert this year were the best gift I could have EVER asked for.

See, Jewel, some good has come from all this time off from dance practice. You get to spoil us with all these blogs. Just being selfish I guess, but it's nice to get this insight into your private life.
Hope you are feeling better so you can get back out on the dance floor. You have some catching up to do. I'll be watching DWTS and voting, voting, voting as all of us will be.

I am so proud of you Jewel no matter what pain you are going through. You are such a strong person I am sure your legs will heal within time and you are such a strong person. I really like reading your blogs. I also hope sometime again you tour the State of WI, where I reside I would love to see you in concert in Milwauee or Madison. I love your music. There I agree a bit with jmykL83. About the lyrics... I mean it would be nice to see at least the owns you wrote complete in the album and then the covers... Well, maybe some phrase as you said :)
Nice photos... it´s a pity that for me at least they are no very clear (a bit blur)

I'm glad that you are taking the docs advice and taking the rest you need. I hope your knee holds out for the show and you are able to make it pretty far. It's funny, a lot of my friends have been telling me about you being on DWTS, as they know what a fan I am. Well, then they ask, "Do you think she will start incorporating some dance numbers into her concerts?" It's just hard to picture you putting on a big dance production during your concerts. Would you salsa while singing Who Will Save Your Soul? Or maybe cha cha to Hands? Just a bit funny to think about.

Thanks, Jewel, for your inspiration! I finally did what you and Steve Poltz suggested. I found a place that will let me play every week at the same time. I started today, Sunday, at the 10 AM slot and played 11 originals and 3 covers. I woke up at 6 AM to practice so I didn't sound like a dying frog croaking. I survived and no one threw a tomato at me! I can't believe I finally did it! Thank you for motivating me with your spirit of creativity and work ethic!

Hilarious "roid-rage"! In a recent previous blog you gave an exquisite description of that Texas wind, even your blogs are poetic. Cute pup. A neighbor has this little brown doggie named Cody. Whenever I see her being walked by the dog is so happy he jumps into my hands. Human's best friend. The pic's of the ranch show a scene of serenity. You mentioned once about trouble sleeping. I get that too, so I sit in my chair (recommended) until I can ly back down and sleep;shut down the mind.Feel well...dancing queen!

Thanks for sharing the above photos, Now, I can see thru your eyes. Nice perspective, as if I were looking out by the window with you and see the sky with its hues of blue as a background of an old oak tree while the wind sways its' crowning glory as if to enchant you or to show its presence. Hey Jewel. My first post. Just joined your site. Fellow Texan here, but currently living in Taiwan teaching English and working on some art.
Your last album was AMAZING. You and country music are a perfect match. I listen to it all the time out here. Nothing against Chinese Pop - but I sure do miss the sites and sounds of home sometimes.
