Recovering and resting

So, I went to the physical therapist yesterday and I can say that I am feeling better! He said if I take time now to heal that I will be good to go by next week. I hate missing these days, but it's all for the best in the long run, because I'm in it for the long haul and I wanna win it! :)

Ty and Chelsea are taking advantage of out-practicing me now! Haha.... We don't really feel that competitive against each other, we really just feel supportive and sympathetic for how hard the process is, and we are glad to share it together; but we do like to joke about it being a race. Like yesterday on the Billy Bush show, Ty said that he thinks his best chance of beating me is if I get pregnant during the show so I would be too tired to dance! Talk about a strategy! Haha... Of course, that would be fine with me if it did happen, so either way would be a win!

Anyway, I'm excited to get back to work next week dancing, hopefully it didn't cause me to get too far behind all the other contestants- I only had 3 weeks to prepare, and now it will be only 2 weeks - which isn't much considering how much I have to learn. All I can do is what I'm doing and to try and have fun- which I am! I will enjoy the days off to hang with my husband, and our family.... Anyway, talk to you soon and thank for your well wishes. I will keep u all posted! See you March 9th for my first dance.

xxj

Another blog! I am getting way too used to this! lol! I think it's cute how the show makes it so you guys are against each other but really you are helping each other out. I couldn't see you guys getting angry with each other to win, like they probably want haha. And that strategy of Ty's is very clever. ;)
Thanks for writing again Jewel! You know we all love it. And March 9th, I will be voting and voting and voting for you! :D

Jewel, thanks for all the updates it is really fun to be able to keep up with all the back stage goings on. Having played hockey all my life I certainly know what it means to play with pain (most likely not as much as Ty)stay strong and listen to your doctor and with your inter strength I have no doubt you will be able to preform at your normal high level of follow through on everything you do. You have alot of people supporting you.

Hi Jewel:

I´m glad that the knee is finaly getting well.
I wish you all the luck in the world for this expierence!!
LOVE blessed you and take care

Hey Jewel!
Best of luck. I just wanted to give a heads up...if one knee is bothering you more than the other, most likely your hips are slightly out of alignment.
there is a technique called the Desjarnettes sacral/pelvis block technique that is great. any chiropractor or osteopath, along with some physical therapists, & other allied health folks should know it.
makes me sad ya got cortisone. I'm personally against those for lots of reasons. I would love to recommend the one chiropractor that I refer all my pro/olympic folks to in Houston, but I don't want to be 'one of those spammers'.
Best of luck to you & Ty!
btw, I think you beat him, even if ya were prego :)

I am soooo glad you are feeling better...I was particularly happy that the PT said you will be doing better because I do PT and hope he helps you obtain your maximum potential. I was so upset yesterday to hear you may not make it...yeah!!!! Jewel, thank you for keeping us up to date...with so many tabloid stories in the mix, I know I can trust to hear the truth from your website. Thanks again and good luck with the competition. I'm pulling for you and I think you will win the whole thing!!!
ZAHNA | February 26, 2009
What happens is one knee starts hurting so you compensate and end up putting more stress on the other knee... anyway, hope you're feeling better. And I guess I'll actually watch the show this season...
Brad | February 26, 2009
I won't be able to vote from France, but I'll tell everyone I know in the US to vote for you and also for Ty !!! Good luck to both of you !!

Ouch. Sorry you're in pain. I Know the feeling. I'd say "break a leg", but I grew up in Hollywood. It happens. Then you feel awful.

I found a web site for an Old Cowboy Singer who's house I used to hang out in as a teen. Ever heard of Doye O'Dell? Most folks I've mentioned him to haven't, so I stopped talkin bout him years ago. He had a yodellin' Swedish Cowgirl on his show in L.A. named Carolina Cotton. He was also on one episode of "I Love Lucy." Some Strange coincidences there.

A Baby might be nice.

Jewel - Glad to hear you're improving. I'm looking froward to see you on "Dancing." I see others telling you about all kinds of products, which is actually what drove me to your site. I can't tell you the number of times I wished I could tell stars on the show about RegeniCare and RegeniFree by Univera LifeSciences. I no longer need double knee replacement or have Plantar's Fascistic (along with lots of areas helped) from taking these products. They work at the DNA level and all UV products undergo human clinical trials. Your doctor or any licensed practitioner can speak with Stephen Cherniske (brilliant biochemist who w/50 PhD scientists develops the products) or any of the thousands of MDs, CPs & NDs with the company. I'm #1190807 & would be happy to give you more info or help. www.netimpact.us or www.univera.com

So happy you're feeling better, Jewel! I've had tendinitis in my arms a couple times and it took me forever to recover - then again, i didn't see a doctor for it or get any steroids or anything. I hope it is, in fact, completely better by next week! I can't wait to see you dance March 9!

Keep up the good work, and push on. It will be worth it in the end!
Best Wishes

Glad you're gonna be alright. Keep it up and good luck. Haha it would be funny if you got pregnant during the show so you would be too tired to dance. It would be super cool too! Have fun, can't wait for March 9th!

Hi Jewel,
It will be nice to see you compete and share time with your touring partners Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks. It will like a reunion together. I seen your concert tour in Pittsburgh, have to say it was one of most memorable concerts in my life ! Best of luck to you.

Hey Jewel!! I can't wait to watch you and your husband compete on DWTS. Don't tell him, but I think you have an advantage. I'm sure his body has been pretty abused through his years of bull riding, so when your knees heel, he better watch out. haha! Best of luck to you both and especially with starting a family. I have 4 children, and what a blessing they are!!
I invite you to go to
www.the-team.biz/MV299436 and check out a product I use for my aches/pains and inflamation. It is AMAZING!!!!! and all natural. You will love it!
Have a great weekend and I hope you are back dancing soon!! God Bless!!!

Another post sweet! Jewel your the best. Eleven more days to go, I need to update my DVR.

Dear Jewel,
We enjoyed you in San Diego, Humphries,
a couple of years ago. Hope to see you
somewhere in our time zone again. Your
lyrics, your voice.
If I may. (Us old-er people have lost any
reluctance to preach, sooo.)
Be a mother a little while. Drink the
beauty of family. Remember Willie? He
fell out awhile, and now back atem. Heard
him last week on David Letterman. Beautiful.
Another favorite, Merle was gone a good time. We saw his back again concert in
San Berdoo awhile back. Better than ever.
Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, everybody came back after an extended disappearance.
DO be well, rest some, metamorphys (

yay!!!! so glad you are doing alright!!! good luck coming up!! you should def go all the way. love you jewel!
Brett_Bailey | February 27, 2009
I was thinking of something you said in a previous post. "people have been dancing for hundreds, maybe thousands of years and yet they can't make a pair of comfortable dancing shoes". Maybe you just have uncomfortable feet. What I mean by that is think back to when you first started playing guitar. Hurt like hell, didn't it?
We, as musicians, are not born with calluses on our fingers from our pens and guitars. And dancers aren't born with callused feet and stretchy muscles. We are all the product of what we make ourselves through the struggles we face everyday of what we choose to endure and whatever life wants to throw at us. You were not born a dancer, but you have become one!
xx

Well, I have *never* watched DWTS. This year, however, I am totally adding it to the dvr list. Looking forward to seeing Ty and Jewel tear it up.

Not a new post from you, Jewel????
Jaja joke joke, easy!!!
Hope you are feeling better the knee.
You have really wondered me... I saw you dancing a bit and can clearly see why you are suffering now this tendonitis, you worked very hard, Jewel! A really good job, you dance very sublte (gentle, I mean as a feather (light)) ;)
Recover well from the knee and then keep the good work, but be careful!!!
Love blessed you
Kari | February 27, 2009
My husband and I will be routing for you!! I know you've had so much advice about your knees, but if you're as competetive as I am you'll try anything!!
I had severe pain in both knees when I ran. A trainer suggested I use a styrofoam roller to roll the "kinks" out of my hips and thighs to help reduce the stress on my knees. I thought she was crazy but it worked!!
Just lay on your side with the roller under you and roll from your hips all the way down to your knees (its painful at first). I do it before and after all of my workouts.
Good luck and hang in there!!

KandiShell | February 27, 2009
Also, I've never watched DWTS either. Until now. You and Ty have added some new viewers as well. ;o)
KandiShell | February 27, 2009
Wow, Jewel! Just saw you & Ty's segment on ET, and I was very impressed!!
Please pass along to Ty that he could be a 'suprise' dance hit!
I see you're getting lots of advice here, but here is some more. NOT for your pain, but for your DANCING while you're out of commission. (from a dancer) VISUALIZATION is the key!! Sit in a chair, close your eyes, and listen to the song (over and over) and MOVE what you can, your arms, shoulders, head, etc!!
Finally, for what it's worth, I believe you have a real opportunity to win this!
Go Jewel!
pgpestoff | February 27, 2009
AHH man I missed an ET segment with Jewel & Ty!!! Too bad I never watch those crappy shows! I'm going to have to sign up with the Everyday Angels again. BUT I'm going to laugh so hard if Ty does become that suprise dancer! lol! Just something you'd never expect from a bullriding cowboy!

Hi Jewel,
Happy Saturday. Feeling better? Hope so. Take care of yourself...we like you in 1 piece! You mentioned having a "little one", a little artist girl or cowboy tyke. Your lullaby's will be perfect for the babe to fall asleep to. I can feel the Brahams Lullaby now...it making the goldfish in the belly do backflips of glee!-to borrow a line from a great poet. If you're up to it, how about a show outside at Jones Beach this summer? It's down the road from my house and I love to swim there...it's therapeutic, especially for my sinusitis. 'Nuff about me. Spring will bloom soon-the yearly re-birth of nature, flowers, trees, warm sun and vacation. Puerto Rico anyone?
My Best Always to you, Ty and the "fam",

I have not had a chance to sit down and watching the show this year. I teach 4th grade, so I grade papers at home all night, I have 3 little ones that usually need help with homework, plus, I need to cook dinner in between.
I have very busy nights, but now that I know your on the show, I will be sure to tune in.
Sorry to hear about your knee! :-(
I really hope it feels better soon.
Take Care!

Jewel, I have a rod and screws in my right knee from a horse accident. That makes me a real cowgirl - like you! We just keep going and getting stronger. You'll be fine. I worry about Ty though. My Tommy met him at a bull riding event back in the early 90's. He says he's a cry baby. Tommy's a bucking horse champion and a bull rider too. I've seen you twice in AC and once at the camden waterfront in NJ, but you were so far away! I'm dreaming of meeting you up close some day, but tickets for that are costly, not that you aren't worth it, but just for today, I just don't have the ways and means to see you, but some day I will. Until then, remember this name. I am Lucy Lacy! I have all of your CD's and I love you Jewel. Thank you for your inspiration. Some day, I'll tell you how your story and your Spirit CD changed my life! God Bless, pretty girl!
